They've always been community workers, working for the greater good. So after
launching free community websites that serve as windows to info packs,
discussion, friendship and directories, the Kamboj brothers got down to network
people in this country's largest time-pass and social service - marriage,
through their website www.shubhlagan.in.
"Although there've been a host of websites
that provide matrimonial services, there is hardly a holistic one that helps
plan and arrange a wedding, that too for the people of states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, J&K and UP. This triggered our brain cells to come up with a
free website that brings together people, for free, for life," says the 'web'
mind and man behind www.shubhlagan.in,
Deepak Kamboj. Deepak, along with his brother Vikram, rate the net as the medium
for networking. "When it comes to social trends, urban India is undergoing a
fast change. An increasing number of men and women are staying independently.
The age of nuclear families and demanding professional life leaves little or no
space for interaction with relatives and friends. In such a scenario, if
technology can aid in taking one time decisions like marriage, then why not go
ahead with it and let people access this infoamation under one roof?," explains
Deepak who's aim is to build a brand that provides comprehensive content, tailor
made to the needs to NRIs and urban Indians. "Therefore, in the initial stages,
shubhlagan.in will only provide features and information on wedding-related
products and services, " he says adding Sarabjeet Kaur, a web designer in
Hyderabad, designed their website - for free.
About the website, its matrimonial
services include profiles, internal messaging services and contacts. By May, it
will also offer personal wedding packages, wedding checklist, address book, a
guest manager, gifts andwedding budgets. "Not only this, we are planning to load
an online wedding shopping cart along with 24-hour chat sessions between
prospective brides and grooms, wedding announcements, traditions, tips and
wedding planner complete with a vendor's directory," shoots Deepak. Ready to log
